really is a shame that people don’t relate mai’s emotional wall and perceived apathy to the fact that the boy she clearly had strong feelings for as a young child was banished and scarred for being decent out loud

everyone stop characterizing katara as the “mom friend” or god forbid “momtara” and understand that she was literally forced into a maternal role by the traumatic murder of her own mother when she was a young child and if she acts maternally it’s because it’s a trauma response. thank u
